Assist Security Group Awarded Silver for Armed Forces Support

Assist Security Group (ASG) has been awarded Silver in the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) from the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the security consultancy’s commitment to supporting the armed forces community.

Andy Emmins, ASG Managing Director and former RAF reserve commissioned officer, said: “Attaining the Silver Award brings ASG immense pride. Having served in the military, I understand the invaluable contributions of armed forces personnel to defence and security. At Assist Security Group, we are committed to providing great employment opportunities, recognising the unique skills gained during military service.”

ASG actively recruits veterans and reservists, valuing their discipline, trustworthiness, and adaptability. Currently, 25% of ASG’s Senior Management Team comprises individuals with armed forces backgrounds. In the Operations and Training team, this figure rises to an impressive 80%.

Jonathan Thomas, partner at ASG Protect and a former Royal Marine and current army reservist, emphasised: “The security sector in the UK benefits greatly from ex-service personnel transitioning into civilian roles. Their military training equips them with essential qualities such as operational capability and a strong work ethic. Their adaptability and problem-solving skills are crucial assets in our dynamic industry.”

ASG’s support extends beyond recruitment. The company has implemented a reservist leave policy, offers flexible working arrangements, and provides additional paid leave for reservists’ training. ASG also supports mobilised reservists, ensuring their seamless return to work.

In a move to further support veterans’ transition, ASG has launched a close protection training course for ex-service personnel. This initiative aims to enhance their employability in the security sector.

ASG’s commitment to the armed forces community is evident in its work with high-profile clients and the performance of its security teams, including with Guy’s & St Thomas Foundation Trust, the Arbor Building, and The London Eye. These partnerships demonstrate the value of veterans’ skills in securing critical infrastructure and iconic landmarks.

The company has also partnered with PTSD Resolution, a charity supporting and providing therapy to ex-services personnel with mental health issues, further demonstrating its approach to working with the armed forces community and supporting the welfare of its security personnel.
